Miami Beach, FL – February 21, 2020 – SOBEWFF beloved Burger Bash® was back as the beloved queen of burgers Rachael Ray returned to host after a two-year break! To celebrate the release of Rachael Ray 50: Memories and Meals from a Sweet and Savory Life: A Cookbook (Random House Publishing Group, October 2019) the Festival tapped the award-winning daytime TV host and Food Network fan-favorite to keep the ultimate celebration of everyone’s favorite mouth-watering creation between two buns at a maximum for this year’s Heineken Burger Bash presented by Schweid & Sons. Guests gathered under the iconic white tents nestled in the sparkling sands behind The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach hotel to graze on carefully curated offerings from chefs from across America, and sip on refreshing Heineken, wine selections from Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery and MERF wines, and cocktails from Tito’s Handmade Vodka. An esteemed panel of judges, including Food Network’s Geoffrey Zakarian, Food Network’s Jet Tila, Nico Norena aka @SucculentBite, NBC6’s Roxanne Vargas, Rosanna & Elaina Scotto and Goldbelly’s Joe Ariel, decided who received this year’s Schweid & Sons The Very Best Burger Award.

Tacos After Dark Hosted by Danny Trejo

Miami Beach, FL – February 20, 2020 – SOBEWFF‘s fan-favorite tacos and tequila fiesta was back by popular demand! To celebrate the release of his first cookbook, Trejo’s Tacos: A Collection of Always Delicious, Sometimes Healthy Mexican (and Adjacent) Recipes (and Stories) from L.A.’s Baddest Good Guy (Clarkson Potter, April 2020), the Festival tapped the man many guests may recognizes as ‘Machete’, actor and Los Angeles, CA restaurateur Danny Trejo to preside over this flavorful late-night extravaganza. Guests were able to stroll poolside at the host hotel Loews Miami Beach, while sampling more than a dozen of America’s best tacos created by an all-star cast of tastemakers! They also had the chance to sip on Tequila Cazadores cocktails, LOLEA Nº1 sangria and Ramón Bilbao wines while salivating over variations of this perfect beachside snack using succulent lechon, tender pollo and flavorful carne. Savory, sweet, spicy and more – there was a taco for everyone that was guaranteed to leave you seeing stars during this late-night soirée celebrating Mexico’s most iconic dish.

Feeding the World Presented by OpenTable Hosted by José Andrés at SLS South Beach

Miami Beach, FL – February 20, 2020 – It’s no secret that José Andrés, 2018 TIME’s 100 List honoree and recipient of the National Humanities Medal, is dedicated to empowering communities through his nonprofit organization World Central Kitchen (WCK). The James Beard Award-winning chef, 2017 SOBEWFF® Tribute Dinner Honoree and author of We Fed an Island: The True Story of Rebuilding Puerto Rico, One Meal at a Time (HarperCollins, September 2018) is returning to the boutique luxury SLS hotel to host a walk-around tasting infused with global culinary diplomacy. From Mexico to Mozambique, North Carolina to Northern California, the WCK Chef Relief Team has deployed around the world, and José will be showcasing some of their favorite dishes. Alongside the globally-inspired bites, wines from Gérard Bertrand and libations from Patrón will be served, as José brings a taste of culinary adventure – and his commitment to supporting communities in need – to the Magic City.
